Ring Around The Videos

Note: If you have Windows Internet Exploder 5.5 SP2 or later, these pages may not work for you. However, using Quicktime 5.0 seems to resolve the issue. Click on the Quicktime image below to get v5.0.

General

The videos shown here are my adventures around the Ring one Easter Sunday morning. The direction of travel on the track is clockwise. There’s no intentional tricks on the video— I’m actually going that slow. I just have that “lack of driving skill” disease.

If you’re interested in getting this whole video as a file, it’s something like 22MB. and we can figure out how to get it to you.

Size

QuicktimeSize matters. The videos are a bit big— sorry about that. I wanted to show decent quality and a good size (hey, it’s 16x9 like DVDs for that cinematic effect!). The files are around 2 MB a piece. What do you want? I’m just a guy at home with a G4 PowerMac and a Hi-8 video camera.

Sound

There’s no sound— I’m trying to save space (that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it). Besides, I’m just mumbling incoherencies to my buddy Luca while we were driving around anyway.

Rear-view Mirror

It’s in the videos. Sorry, again— deal with it.

Start Gate [size: 2 MB * time:1:40]
This goes from the opening gate to the old Start-Finish line.
Hatzenbach [size 1.8 MB * time 1:15]
The ever-annoying Hatzenbachs to Hochheichen.
Flugplatz [size 2.1 MB * time 1:21]
The “place of flight.”
Füchsrohre [size 1.5 MB * time 0:58]
Down into the “foxhole” and through the forest...
Metzgesfeld [size 2.6 MB * time 2:07]
“Mitch’s Field.” (Well, I guess you had to be there, or at least see the other videos.)
Bergwerk [size 2.8 MB * time 1:57]
The Holy Grail of Nürburgring...

Karussell [size 2.2 MB * time 1:23]
...and the ever-entertaining Karussell.
Wipperman [size 1.9 MB * time 1:39]
Just Wipperman.
Pflantzgarten [size 1.2 MB * time 0:53]
The “garden with the plants,” but then again, what else would a garden have?
Schwalbenschwanz [size 1.4 MB * time 1:04]
I thought this meant “butterfly,”, but now I think it means “swallow tail.” Now, if I only knew what a swallow tail is.
Back Home [size 1.5 MB * time 1:08]
Return to the Gate.
