Königssee

Konigsee Cruise

This is one of the electric boats that can carry up to 100 passengers around the Königssee. As far as we know, no boats have been sunk yet by giant Loch Ness-like monsters living in the lake (even though if you look closely, you can almost see them right by where I re-touched this photograph).

Königssee II

Escape from Sleeping Witch Mountain

It’s a little hard to pick out in a picture, but the mountain in the background is the “Sleeping Witch.” Starting from the right, you can see the profile of her head, including the forehead, nose and chin. The profile continues down the body a bit, which gives an indication that it must be pretty cold up there. (And if you stare at it just right, you can see an American flag on her nose.)

This picture was taken shortly after leaving to main docks, which you can see along the shore.

Königssee III

Mirrored Lake

Here you can see the calm Obersee, which feeds into the Königssee.

You can get here by taking the boat all the way to the other side of the lake to Salet, and then walking about 10-15 minutes to the Obersee.

Königssee IV

Green Waters of Obersee

I included this picture because it’s one of my favorites. I just like looking at it. Now, if only I can somehow get my Porsche here so I can take a picture of it with by lake...
