...Drive 155.
Wasn’t that the old insurance slogan in America? I’m sure it was something like that
This wasn’t the fastest that I’ve had the car going in Germany, but it’s the only one that was caputured clearly on film. I was chasing an E30 M3 at the time on A96, heading towards München from Neuschwanstein. I had touched 155 mph at this particular chase, but I was doing only 145 mph on the picture. Unfortunately, I had to let the M3 go, but he was clearly going faster than I, and the girlfriend was in the car (taking pictures).
A word about speed. I have to admit that driving up to 125 mph (200 km/h) is not too big of a deal. In this car, a relaxed cruising speed for me is 115 mph. My girlfriend doesn’t even bat an eyelash at those speeds.
Things change once you exceed 140 mph, however. You better start getting serious about what you’re doing. And you start worrying about different things, like will parts start flying off your car. The car still feels secure, but for those tempted to try this at home (I’m certainly no professional), think, and be safe.
What’s the fastest I’ve had it on the autobahn? To go in the 150s isn’t so difficult. I've touched a tad over 160 mph a few times, but usually on these twisty, curvy autobahns, I’ve run out of room. It can go faster, but I don’t know how much more. Not bad for a 10-year-old car, in my humble opinion.

Here’s another picture from Pike’s Peak in Colorado. While I enjoyed the drive up to the top, I still can’t imagine them racing up here, going as fast as they can possibly go. The little red car at the bend of the road is the 944TS.
